Aftermath (For 18 and older readers)

Aftermath by E. Harper is the last book of three about Mathis and Amanda's relationship.  The first chapter is very graphic and this book is for those 18 or over.  If you still want to know the conclusion, skip chapter 1 as chapter 2 is not as graphic.

Mathis had his reasons for staying away from Amanda which included a promise to her Uncle Andrew.  Something happens that changes his resolve.  The ending is very romantic.

I really enjoyed reading about this romance and loved the ending.  I would have gladly purchased the book, had I not received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Effect

Effect by E. Harper is the 2nd of the three books that tell the story of Mathis and Amanda. who met as  children and were brought together thanks to her Uncle's will.  It is my book for E.

Mathis is trying to protect Amanda and does all he can to keep her away from him including sending her money and a gun. Amanda has other ideas.

Each part of this gets more exciting. I look forward to reading the conclusion to this story.

Received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lending a Paw

Lending a Paw by Laurie Cass is the first book is a new cozy series.  It is my L for Alphabet Soup Challenge and there is a cat on the cover and Eddie the bookmobile cat is a main cat in the story.

Minnie Hamilton is a librarian in Chilson, Michigan.  She had received a donation from Stan Larabee to help buy a bookmobile for the library.  Eddie is a cat that followed her home to her houseboat one day.  He sneaks on to the bookmobile on its maiden run.  At the Williams Town Hall stop, she finds out that no one will show up as they are all at a softball game.  Unfortunately Eddie runs out of the bookmobile and Minnie follows him.  She finds Eddie standing over Stan who has a small bullet sized hole in his chest.  She calls 911 and does CPR on Stan until help comes.

It turns out that Stan left the library a bequest in his will but his sisters are protesting the will.  Minnie's boss wants her to try to get other donations for the library.  Since Minnie is a librarian she is very interested in finding out more about Stan.  She discovers one of Stan's ex-wives and other people who might have had a motive for killing Stan.  She also manages to meet a single doctor while taking a friend to the emergency room and goes out on dates with him.

Minnie's mother has asked her to leave a note as to where she is going to be before leaving the house.  This habit becomes very important.

Eddie is a big hit at the stops the bookmobile makes.  Minnie tries her best to keep her boss from finding out about him being on the vehicle.

I loved this book and look forward to reading about Minnie and Eddie's further adventures.

FA LA LA La Challenge

I had read my one Christmas book so I would like to post about the movies I watched.

I did get to see my favorite: White Christmas since I could not find Holiday Inn which is the movie in which the song first appeared.

Thanks to the Hallmark Channel I got the chance to view new movies.   The Christmas Ornament Catch a Christmas Star, Fir Crazy, Let It Snow and the Santa Switch.   Of the new movies, I liked Fir Crazy and Let It Snow the most.  Perhaps because I had the opportunity to watch them more than once.

Dark Tort

Dark Tort by Diane Mott Davidson has a copyright of 2006 and has been on my shelf for awhile.  It is a Cozy Mystery and am using it for that on the Eclectic Reader Challenge.  It is also my D for Alphabet Soup.

Goldy Schultz has been making breakfasts and snacks for the H&J, a law firm.  She finds her neighbor and friend, Dusty. dead at their office one night.  Dusty was a paralegal at the firm and worked with her Uncle Richard.  Mrs. Routt wants Goldy to look into her death which it terns out was murder.

As in all of this wonderful series, Goldy is catering a number of events.  She has a birthday party for one of the partners of the law firm, Gus' baptism, and a ribbon cutting for the Parish Center.  Along the way, there is a hit and run and she discovers that there were two paintings in the Routt house and that others were missing.
Then there is an accident with the Range Rover and a garbage bag left inside.

To find out what was in the bag and who murdered Dusty, read this book.

I gave the book five stars on Goodreads.  I love reading Goldy's adventures.
